(a) Megavoltage linear accelerators are the main treatment delivery machines in many radiation therapy facilities today. The machines employ sophisticated technologies to deliver precisely defined radiation beams for various clinical applications. To make sure that those technologies function properly, the machines should be thoroughly tested before their use in the clinic. The first set of tests should demonstrate the mechanical, electrical, and radiation safety of the machine. Additional acceptance tests are performed to assure that the machine operates within its mechanical specifications and satisfies its radiation beam characteristics requirements. The commissioning data, as a minimum, should include all necessary input data to the treatment planning system and the data to verify the planning system’s output. The need for additional data during commissioning depends on the intended use of the machine. For example, data at large distances away from the field border should be acquired when one intends to combine dose contributions from multiple disjoint beams. As part of a comprehensive quality assurance program, a subset of the acceptance test and commissioning measurements should be repeated at predetermined intervals to assure the safety and quality performance of the machine.

(a)今天兆伏级直线加速器在很多放射治疗单位中是主要的治疗实施设备。机器使用复杂技术为各种各样的临床应用提供精确定义的放射线束。为了确保那些技术运转正常,在投入临床使用前应该对机器进行一次完全的测试。.第一套试验应该确认机器的机械、电气和辐射安全。还要进行其它接收测试,以确认机器符合有关机械和辐射束的技术要求。验收数据至少应该包括治疗计划系统所需要输入的所有数据和用于验证计划系统输出的数据。验收阶段是否采集另外的数据取决于机器的用途。例如,如果需要计算多个不相邻射野的剂量分布时就需要测量距离射野边缘很远的地方的数据。作为整个质量保证程序的一部分,应该在预定的时间间隔内对接收和验收测量项目的一部分进行重复测试以保证机器的安全和质量性能。
