In order to maintain minimum professional standards the American Board of Radiology conducts written and oral examinations for Medical Physics. Successful candidates are awarded a certificate to recognize their achievement.  The eligibility criteria, examination process, the areas of certification will be described.  Additionally the concept of limited term certification (LTC) and the procedures for maintenance of certification (MOC) will be described.
