Brachytherapy is widely used in the treatment of prostate cancer, breast cancer, and various GYN tumors, as well as benign conditions such as restenosis of coronary vessels following angioplasty procedures.  This session provides a review of the specifics of prostate permanent seed implant, high dose rate prostate and breast cancer implants, and intravascular brachytherapy procedures.  Detailed discussions will be held on the choice of radiation sources and their dosimetric characteristics, as well as the clinical treatment planning and delivery of these treatments.  Current recommendations by the AAPM and other organizations on the quality assurance tests and practice of brachytherapy will be summarized in the presentation.
